Cindi Lux Honored As Part of New World Of Speed Exhibit

Aloha, Oregon, November 16, 2015 – The World of Speed educational and interactive motorsports museum in Wilsonville, Oregon is set to open its latest exhibit on November 21. Women In Racing will tell the story of females in a sport traditionally dominated by men through the words and memorabilia of five of the industry’s leading drivers. Aloha, Oregon’s own Cindi Lux, who continues to spearhead female driver/owners in sports car racing, is one of the five racers featured in the exhibit which will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00 Pacific Time (PT), on Saturday.

As the sole exhibit member living in the Portland-area, Lux has loaned a number of items from her personal collection which spans 12 road racing championships, more than 80 victories, over 160 podium-finishes and 50-plus pole positions. Among the items that Lux has offered for display is the Dodge Viper Competition Coupe she used as a Team Mopar factory driver to compete in the 2008 World Challenge series. The V10 supercar is still stickered in the impressive Mopar livery that was featured on the Forza Xbox driving simulation.

Other female racing professionals featured are veteran road racer and seven-time Indy 500 starter Lyn St. James, NHRA record-holder Courtney Force, Land Speed Record specialist Betty Burkland and two-time SCCA national Autocross Champion Michelle Miller. The non-profit museum prides itself on telling the story of racing – automobiles, motorcycles and boats – and will use this platform to relate these women’s journey to the top of the sport.

In addition to the championships, race victories and pole positions, Lux has accumulated a number of significant milestone awards throughout her career. She was given the Lifetime Achievement Award from Oregon Motorsports Museum Association, was the Oregon SCCA National Driver of the Year in 2003, Pro-Driver SCCA Driver-of-the-Year Award in 1999, was recognized with the 1992 Northwest Pat Piggot Memorial Award for the most outstanding driver, was only the second woman in history to win the June Sprints and the first woman to podium in Portland’s own Rose Cup Main event (2011). Her success behind the wheel as well as her technical and development savvy earned her the position of factory driver for SRT (2012), Dodge Motorsports (‘05-‘07) and Mopar (‘08). The native of the Northwest is currently preparing the 2016 Trans Am Championship following a partial season campaign which added a class victory and multiple podiums in 2015.

Quotes
Cindi Lux: “When the World of Speed contacted me to be part of this special exhibit, I was honored. There are so many drivers who should be included in this exhibit as well. They are the women who charted the path that I followed. The four women that join me in this exhibit are all incredible drivers and I am so privileged to be including among them. But, I feel like the five of us are only representing the dozens of female racers that came before us and the hundreds that are racing today and thousands that will continue after us. This is a cool way to celebrate a lot of hard work over the years that has allowed me to be part of this World of Speed program. I am very thankful.”

David Schaeffer, World of Speed, Executive Director: “We are thrilled to have Cindi be a part of the Women in Racing exhibit. Her talent and skills on and off the track make her a remarkable representation of women in today's motorsports. We are proud to spotlight one of Oregon's own and all that she has accomplished."
